●What is the packaging material of our dashi pack?
We use non-woven fabric for our dashi pack packaging material.
We use those that have been tested to show that there is no problem even if they are boiled.
I am often asked why I don't use environmentally friendly materials such as unbleached paper.
It is true that unbleached paper has advantages because it is cheaper.
However, we do not use it for the following reasons.
The dashi pack is sealed by thermal evaporation.
Non-woven fabrics are materials that can be crimped by thermal evaporation, but unbleached paper cannot be sealed even if crimped at high temperatures due to the characteristics of the material itself.
Therefore, we use glue so that it can be sealed by applying heat.
Previously, when I compared the taste of dashi packs with non-woven fabric and unbleached paper, I found that the taste was completely different.
In the case of unbleached paper, the taste mutates.
And it turns out that it is due to the fact that the nori necessary for sealing has melted when boiled.
It seems to be used because it has no effect on the human body as a result of tests.
However, if the taste is mutated due to the influence of the packaging material, there is no point in using good ingredients.
Therefore, in order to enjoy the original taste of the material, Kanejo does not use unbleached paper, but selects and uses non-woven fabric.
If you are concerned about non-woven fabrics, please tear the pack and use it as a powder stock.
