Using paulownia, the lightest tree in Japan,
A placemat that achieves surprising thinness and lightness
It is a paulownia placemat that uses the "stile (kamachigumi)" used for the door of the paulownia chest.
By assembling it with its own dimensions that have been researched for many years, we have reduced the shrinkage and warping of paulownia.
Paulownia, the lightest tree in Japan, is thinly shaved to a thickness of 6 mm to achieve an astonishing lightness of about 190 g.
The surface is coated with urethane, which is stain-resistant and easy to wash with water.
