Sumatra is the westernmost island in Indonesia, and it was practically impossible to visit or investigate without guidance, and it was practically impossible to visit due to reasons such as being a little busy with other Indonesia tropical medicinal plants, staying for less than one month per visit to Indonesia, and the corona disaster from 2020.
Therefore, I asked an old friend who had introduced me to Bangajutsu, Javanaga Gosho (Hihatsu), Hisshouka, various essential oils, Yunnan Hundred Medicines, Indonesia eel, etc., to conduct a preliminary survey of the natural habitat of Sansho on Sumatra, and after understanding the outline, I made a preliminary import of Sansho called Andariman.
I was amazed at the aroma, taste, and texture of sansho that exceeded my expectations, and the analysis confirmed that the aroma and taste components unique to sansho greatly exceeded the limonene content of Japan in the analysis conducted at the Japan.
In February 2024, I was able to visit Lake Toba, the natural habitat of Andariman Sansho on Sumatra Island, and confirmed the actual sansho tree, fruit, traditional diet of local residents, drying method, tasted various spice recipes, and finally decided to introduce it to Japan.
