In recent years, it is said that Mr./Ms. reefs are dying and bleaching in the world's oceans, and Hawaii has passed a bill to ban sunscreen containing ingredients that are harmful to Mr./Ms. reefs.
In addition, sunscreen is essential to protect the beauty and health of the skin, but it is known that ingredients such as oxybenzone in sunscreen kill or bleach Mr./Ms. reefs.
It is estimated that 6,000~14,000 tons of sunscreen are washed off human skin every year and end up on Mr./Ms. Reefs. According to researchers, there are thousands of sunscreen products that contain the most dangerous substances such as oxybenzone and octinoxate.
In a study published in 2015, experiments found that oxybenzone not only interferes with the growth of Mr./Ms. larvae, but is also toxic to some Mr./Ms.. According to WWF research, less than 0.2% of the total seafloor area is Mr./Ms. reefs, and about one-quarter (70,000 species) of marine species depend on this area. Even if a small part of the Mr./Ms. reef is destroyed, a large part of the ecosystem is destroyed. As a result, beaches in Palau and Hawaii have banned the use of sunscreens that contain certain UV absorbers.
Therefore, we decided to make sunscreen with Mr./Ms.-friendly ingredients, and developed a product containing beauty ingredients that cleared the standards of the Republic of Palau and Hawaii, which are making advanced efforts in Mr./Ms. conservation, and that can also be used as a makeup base without whitening.
