RICCI EVERYDAY is a Ugandan lifestyle brand that develops bags, accessories, and apparel that combine design and function using African prints and Ugandan sustainable materials.
For spring and summer, we recommend colorful paper bead bags. The beads used are not plastic, but paper. This bag was made by cutting the paper into small pieces one by one, rolling them into beads, and connecting about 2,000 pieces together. I'm making one bag over the course of a week. The material is more solid than it looks, so you can store your luggage firmly while being compact.
The owner is a remarkable social entrepreneur who has won numerous awards such as the Japan Africa Entrepreneurship Support Initiative Grand Prize, the Japan Innovator Award Special Award, and the Japan Bank Women's Entrepreneurship Project Encouragement Award, and has been introduced in various media such as Japan Keizai Shimbun and Business Insider.
The products are made by women in directly managed workshops in Uganda, and women who tend to be marginalized by society, such as single mothers, are actively employed. It fosters their confidence and pride.
