Who are supporting us?
In the middle of the Showa era, with the development of advanced mass production technology for salt due to modernization, the salt pans on beaches all over Japan were abolished with the enforcement of the monopoly system.
However, there was a very high need from Japanese restaurants, artisans, and producers of traditional foods such as pickles and miso that the taste and texture of the dishes would change, and that the need for old-fashioned Japan salt would change.
Against this background, we, who have been involved in salt production in the salt pans for a long time, were approached by the Japan Monopoly Corporation and officially commissioned to start the production of Japan's first old-fashioned salt.
* In the Taisho era, the salt of the predecessor of "Arashio" in a paulownia box, which was dedicated to His Majesty the Emperor.
Taking advantage of the salt-making techniques of our ancestors in the salt pans that have been practiced for hundreds of years, we succeeded in stably producing the original "Japan salt" through trial and error while listening to the opinions of the chefs, and gave birth to "Arashio", which brings the high-quality salt that has lived with Japan's food culture to the present day.
