"It would be interesting if we could make more use of the garbage that abounds in the world."
It was born from two thoughts: "I want to create a business that balances business and social aspects."

FERMENSTATION is a coined word that is a combination of the English words fermentation and station. By utilizing fermentation technology, we want to be like a station where various resources change their appearance.

Fermentation is "the transformation of organic matter into something beneficial to humans by the action of microorganisms."
We took this broadly and thought of it as "changing various things in the world into something valuable."

When you pass through the Fermen Station, there will always be something good, and you will be better than before.

A station is a place where various people and things come and go.
At the "station" called Fermen Station, resources are not only reborn, but new things and value are created by various people meeting and getting to know each other.

"Fermenting a Renewable Society" With this phrase as our purpose, we continue our business with the aim of finding new value in unused resources through fermentation technology, and building a society in which these resources are reborn, regenerated, and recycled.

We will create a world in which the natural environment, society, all related people, and stakeholders continue to improve by passing through the "station" called Fermen Station.

What are we doing?
Fermen Station produces ethanol by fermenting and distilling organic rice grown in fallow fields in Oshu City, Iwate Prefecture.
In addition to using the remaining fermented lees as raw materials for cosmetics, we also use them to feed chickens and cows, and we are practicing recycling-oriented and sustainable initiatives that do not generate waste, such as using chicken manure and cow dung as fertilizer for fields and rice paddies.

Rice is a valuable crop from a global perspective, but in Japan, rice consumption has decreased over time and the number of fallow fields has increased. Fallow fields are a source of pests and diseases, which adversely affects the surrounding fields.

Therefore, a recycling project was launched about 10 years ago to revive fallow fields and utilize the organic rice grown.
As a project of Oshu City, farmers and people from the town hall in the former Ibusawa Town (now Oshu City) planted large-harvest rice, and a demonstration experiment at a small-scale plant was started. Fermenstation was in charge of the operation and consulting of the ethanol production plant, and in April 2013, we took over the project from Oshu City.

Through this project, we aim to revive the rice fields in Oshu City and cultivate rice, restoring the beautiful countryside and connecting it to new industries.

Commitment to the product
■ Oshu Sabon (Premium, Rich, Natural)
Oshu Sabon is filled with the blessings of brown rice and plants. With a plump and rich lather, it feels like an enveloping wash. It contains plenty of fermentation-derived "rice rice lees" that contain amino acids and ceramides, which are indispensable for moisturizing the skin. It is an excellent facial cleansing soap that washes properly and moisturizes.

What you can see the origin of
Our organic rice ethanol has a clear origin. What year of rice was produced, when was the rice planted, and when was the rice harvested? You can trace when it was fermented and distilled. We would like to make sure that the raw materials used in this ethanol are as clear as possible. No petroleum-derived ingredients, synthetic fragrances, or synthetic preservatives are used, and no genetically modified ingredients are used. We aim to create environmentally friendly products.

Organic Certification
The rice used for ethanol production is JAS organic rice, which is pesticide-free and chemical-free. Refined organic rice and ethanol have obtained USDA NOP certification and Ecocert COSMOS certification, and rice rice lees has obtained USDA NOP certification. By clearing strict checks from external organizations, we aim to create products that everyone can use with peace of mind.

Zero Waste
The fermentation lees produced in the process of ethanol extraction are made from brown rice and are rich in nutritional value. In addition to being used as a raw material for cosmetics, it is also used as feed for chickens and cattle, realizing a recycling-oriented society that does not generate waste. The packaging of the Sabon bag is devised so that it can be used as a small item container.

Utilization of unused resources
It is said that abandoned farmland and fallow land in Japan are 1/3 of the total. We use the fallow and idle fields to grow JAS organic rice that is pesticide-free and chemical-free.

We do not test on animals
We recommend the idea that it is difficult to verify the safety of products used by humans in other animals with species differences, and we do not do it in-house.
Who are supporting us?
Using traceable brown rice as a raw material, the fermentation-derived rice familiar to Japan people has been highly evaluated, and it is used by a wide range of customers, from small children to the elderly, regardless of gender. In particular, we sometimes receive voices of gratitude from people who suffer from delicate skin.

In addition to cosmetics, we are expanding the circle of circulation with customers, producers, and local residents, starting with business partners who sympathize with our recycling-oriented business, such as food, apparel, household goods, cosmetics, and wedding gifts.
In addition, we take the lead in holding workshops on an irregular basis to convey the joy of fermentation, and we have created a place where dealers and media can interact and exchange information.
