Teebom makes original products using "Bethany Tape," an elongated fabric that is hand-woven at a leprosy sanatorium (locally called a colony), one of the producer groups of the fair trade NPO "MESH" in India.
Bethany tape is a colorful, slightly thick, hand-woven fabric with a maximum width of 11 cm using thick cotton yarn. The producers themselves do it from the point of dyeing the yarn of the generation. With the limit of width of 11 cm, it is very fun to go through trial and error with the producers to see what kind of products can be made.
In addition, people with various disabilities due to leprosy are making things with vocational technical support such as weaving, dyeing, and sewing. Being able to be financially independent can also lead to social independence, and as a person who is receiving support, I can also feel that I can benefit someone through manufacturing, and Fair Trade is a system that makes all producers and consumers happy.
This time, I made a "glasses case". The Bethany tape is a bit thick and rough, so I had it lined with cotton fabric. You can put it in and out smoothly.
The size is 18 centimeters in height and 10 centimeters in width. In addition to glasses, it can be used as a pencil case or as a smartphone holder.
*However, not all smartphones will fit.
