ーAbout the material
HWDT uses cowhide that has been indigo-dyed and mud-dyed in Tokushima Prefecture as the main material.
We do not use chemical (synthetic) dyes for dyeing, but only pesticide-free indigo and materials obtained from the nature of Tokushima. Please enjoy the unique color of natural dyes that change at the timing of dyeing and the expression of individual differences in each piece of leather.
ーAbout leather
HWDT uses tannin-tanned cowhide leather of European origin as the base for dyeing.
The reason for this is the beauty of its skin and the high quality of the leather.
In Europe, most of them are raised by grazing in an environment close to nature. In an environment where livestock are treated with kindness and there is enough space to live with herdmates, cattle grow with less stress and a calmer temperament, so they grow up with fewer injuries. As for food, it is not a compound feed, but grass and grain, so it grows in a healthy state. The compound feed given to increase the value of meat is like a person eating McDonald's, and the more you eat, the bigger your body will become, and the more fatty beef you will become. However, as you can imagine, the skin becomes rough with acne, etc., and the skin on the stomach becomes loose and unflabby. Cows that grow up in a natural environment and grow up to be healthy grow into adult cattle with clean skin without sagging stomachs. The leather obtained from such cows has few scratches and has many parts that can be used as leather. Therefore, waste is naturally reduced and waste can be reduced. This is why HWDT sticks to leather of European origin.
ー About dyeing
All leather dyeing is done at Hi-COLOR handworks in Kaiyo Town, Tokushima Prefecture.
It is dyed without the use of chemical (synthetic) dyes, using only pesticide-free indigo and natural materials obtained from the nature of Tokushima.
With dyeing, which is carried out only with natural dyes, you can meet a different look (shade) each time. This is because various conditions such as air temperature, humidity, and water temperature are not exactly the same on the same day, and dyes are constantly fermenting. In the process, the colors are layered relying on the sense of the dyeer, and each piece of leather is dyed. We hope that you will find a different kind of enjoyment from conventional mass-produced products in HWDT products. Like a wine with the same label but a different taste every year.
