Honeydew is a Chinese tea café opened by a Japan couple and two Chinese exchange students (at the time) in Nishi-Waseda, Shinjuku-ku, in October 2018.
Naoya Mukai, who ran the Takadanobaba Shimbun, a local web magazine covering the Waseda area from Takadanobaba to the Waseda area, and his wife, Maiko, who was attending a vocational school to obtain a qualification as an acupuncturist, met two Chinese students from Waseda University's graduate school and opened the place as a place to realize the future they envisioned.
Ms. Xie, who was an international student, opened the "Honeydew Chinese School" in 2020, and Maiko opened the "Honeydew Treatment Clinic" in 2021. In order to further expand the value of the "Honeydew" brand, we are working together on each business.
Even though Honeydew is a shop that serves Chinese tea, the reason why it is called a "café" instead of a "tea house" is because we want you to feel free to touch Chinese tea.
When it comes to Chinese tea, some people may have a formal image of manners and utensils. However, we want to bring you a fun time with tea, where Chinese people can relax with tea and chat with friends and family.
In April 2023, as a culmination of what Honeydew is doing, a book called "First Chinese Tea and Snacks" was published by Seibundo Shinkosha.
