In Showa 10, the first Yamamoto Iwajiro started a small shop in Aomori, which is the origin of Yamamoto Foods. After a temporary closure during the war, the second generation Takeshi Yamamoto took over the business.

"Nebuta pickles" were commercialized by the previous Yamamoto samurai because he wanted to make a specialty product that would become a specialty of Aomori City.
