1. It all starts with the sea
"Blackthorn Sea Salt" is made in Ayrshire, the west coast of Scotland. The Firth of Clyde, which forms deep coastal waters and small fjords in the British Isles, is blessed with high water quality and rich minerals.
The seawater used is from the coast of Troon, located a little north of Ayrshire, and carries particularly high-quality and highly salinized seawater. This is because it has a high mineral content and a high salt concentration, so it efficiently produces high-quality salt with depth of taste.
2. Amazing Technology of Salt Towers
Seawater pumped over the 8m high salt tower is poured out of wooden taps in small portions. The drops fall down along the branches of the black thorn that are built all over the wall of the tower, and become thick seawater due to the wind from the sea and the heat of the sun.
Gregory, a master salter and founder who learned the history and techniques of salt making, and Markey, an engineer. The two craftsmen use the power of nature to create thick seawater by adjusting the 54 faucets installed at the top of the tower based on experience and senses, depending on the climate, temperature, wind direction, humidity, etc.
3. Bread House
The salt craftsman heats the concentrated seawater in a flat pot at about 40 degrees Celsius and crystallizes it. And as the crystal grows, various elements are taken in in a balanced manner.
Nutrients such as magnesium, calcium, potassium, sodium, and tannins found in blackthorn branches.
Magnesium, calcium, and potassium are especially superior to regular sea salt.
We add artisanal salt making intricate knowledge and techniques to the pumped seawater and add nothing but gentle heat.
It took 12 years to perfect an environmentally friendly salt production method using the sea, wind, and sun, but the salt production "for the earth" was completed as "Blackthorn Sea Salt" with a rich taste.
