The dial was coated with powder (mineral pigments) made from crushed sugilite (cedar stone). Sugilite was first discovered in Japan in 1943 and was named after Kenichi Sugi, the scholar who laid the foundation of Japan petrology, and is the only gemstone with a Japan personal name. Please enjoy the transparent and gentle colors that cannot be produced with ordinary paints and the unique texture of rough rock paints. The "wisteria" of the table clock also uses the same mineral, but this one uses coarser grainy mineral pigments. The coarser the grain, the darker the color of the mineral pigment, and the finer the grain, the lighter it becomes.
The main body is made by a method called "potter's wheel pulling" in Kaga Yamanaka, Ishikawa Prefecture, which has a history of more than 400 years as a lacquerware production area, by applying a halberd (canna) to a rotating tree. The material is zelkova, the wood grain is beautiful, and the texture is smooth and moist.
The dial is made of Japanese paper made by Mayumi Ishikawa, who makes Japanese paper in Futamata Town, Kanazawa City.
On top of that, "mineral pigments" made by crushing natural stones are applied in layers. The index is gold leaf from Kanazawa.
