In Luang Prabang Sieng Gum in northern Laos, about 500 farmers grow coffee in an ancient forest. By using trees that grow naturally in the forest as shade trees, coffee is cultivated using agroforestry while coexisting with the forest and the wild animals that live there (civets, squirrels, wild birds, etc.). Saan means elephant in Lao. It is derived from the Kingdom of Raansan (a million elephants), which flourished in the 14th century. You can feel the subtle sweetness of chocolate and the firm bitterness typical of coffee. We also recommend adding milk to make a café au lait. The production area is Luang Prabang, a World Heritage city in northern Laos. The coffee is grown while protecting the rich forest that has been cherished for a long time, and only the slowly ripening fruits are carefully hand-picked one by one in the shade of the trees.
