Akune City is located on the west coast of Kagoshima Prefecture, bordering the East China Sea. Even in the Hokusatsu region, which is a major citrus producing area, the specialty of Akune City is Bontang. It is a large citrus fruit that is also used for that Bontang candy. Bontang was given by the trading captain Xie Wendan as a thank you for the rescue, and was introduced to Japan, that is, Akune. In Kagoshima, it is popular as a sugar confectionery called "Bontang pickle". However, only the soft part of the inside is used for pickling bontang. When I learned that the pulp and husk were not used, I received the flesh of the bontang from the producer "Taihei Foods", used plenty of the juice, and further mashed hops to make XPA (Extra Pale Ale) with a West Coast feel.
