Coffee from Gurumi County, nurtured by Nepal's rich nature Coffee was introduced to Nepal in 1938, and cultivation first began in Gurumi County. Locally, it is widely believed that it was King Birendra of Nepal who popularized coffee cultivation. In 1959, while studying in the UK, he encountered coffee and was impressed by its taste, and after returning to Japan, he promoted coffee cultivation in this area. Unfortunately, King Birendra lost his life in the murder of Nepalese royalty in 2001, but his passion for coffee continues. Gurumi County is located 300 kilometers west of Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, and is a 12-hour drive away. The subtropical warm climate and varied environment support the region's unique rich biodiversity. Gurumi County is 37% covered by forests and grasslands, 27% is used for agriculture, and about 1,500 coffee growers belonging to 55 cooperatives grow coffee on a vast area of land at an altitude of more than 1,200 meters. This coffee is characterized by its aroma and firm richness, nurtured in the rich nature of nature.
