◆ About the material "olive"
In Palestine, where it is produced, olives have been cultivated since BC, and old trees that are thousands of years old also grow. It starts to bear fruit in 5-7 years, and after 30~50 years, it is pruned after harvest to help growth. Production organizations mainly use pruning materials for trees that are more than 50 years old. The branches and trunks are transferred to the timber dealer or directly from the farmer to the workshop, where they are reborn as crafts and daily necessities. Even small pieces of wood are used as fuel in winter without being thrown away.
◆ About "Kake Chopsticks"
With the motto "There are no borders in love", Kake Chopsticks is a Palestinian miscellaneous goods specialty store that develops, selects, and sells products with fair trade. In addition to conveying the charm of the local people and culture that I actually experienced during my homestay, I also convey the joy of caring for wooden products and incorporating the distortion of natural materials and human hands into our lives.
We always handle about 40 types of daily miscellaneous goods, kitchen utensils, stationery, etc. that can be picked up regardless of age or gender (due to the number of stocks and costs, some items are not listed on goooods), and in addition to face-to-face sales, in-house e-commerce, and wholesale, we have also opened stores at events at Hankyu Hanshin Department Store, Meitetsu Department Store, and Matsuya Ginza.
◆ About the production organization "Holy Land Handicraft Cooperatives Society" of this product
It is the oldest member of the World Federation of Fair Trade (WFTO) in the Middle East. We support a local community of 2,000 people in Palestine (Bethlehem and the West Bank), and we have overcome the Corona disaster and continue to support craftsmen so that there is no turnover while tourism income, which is still the pillar of the town, does not come in at all.
