Costa Rica's nature nurtures sweet and delicate honey process coffee
Costa Rican coffee has long been known as a luxury product of fully washed Arabica, characterized by its sweetness and acidity. In recent years, it has become popular around the world as a production area for specialty coffee using micromills. However, with economic development, housing development is progressing in coffee-producing areas, and the production area is on a decreasing trend. Nevertheless, as an environmentally friendly coffee producer, Costa Rica has been working to improve environmental pollution by recommending water-saving washing processes.
Costa Rican coffee refining is done through the honey process. This process of drying the coffee cherry pulp and musiage is preserved, allowing the sweetness to penetrate the interior, resulting in a mellow and delicate taste with hints of berry and chocolate. By carefully drying it over a week or more, it is finished with a cup that stands out for its juiciness and mellow mouthfeel.
In addition, through the purchase of this coffee, you can contribute to jaguar conservation efforts. For every pound of coffee exported, one USD cent will be donated to the National Conservation Programme, which protects jaguars. The jaguar was an animal that was deified in the ancient Mayan civilization, and is now an endangered species due to deforestation and other factors.
