Surfrider Foundation Japan is an international environmental NGO that aims to protect the coastal environment of Japan.
Surfers in California voluntarily started a water quality survey activity at surf spots. That was the root of the Surfrider Foundation, which was founded in California in 1984. It is an international environmental NGO that began its activities in Japan in 1993, became a general incorporated association in 2011, and is currently active in 23 countries around the world and has about 250,000 members.
On November 3, 2023 (Culture Day), the Surfrider® Foundation Japan will hold the outdoor event "Carnival Shonan" on November 3, 2023 (Culture Day), which aims to achieve zero waste at all events during the Japan and SURF2050VISION symposium to think about the future of Shonan. We have produced a collaboration version of a plastic free tumbler.

The main raw materials for plastic-free tumblers are PLA (polylactic acid), which is mainly lactic acid obtained by fermenting corn starch, and paper.
By making it from earth-friendly materials, it has a unique texture of natural materials like pottery and wood products, and we value individuality such as color and shade so that you can use it with love.
"I want to use my cup, but I want to avoid plastic products!"
"I want to use something that is good for the environment, but design is also important..."
It is a recommended product for those who say.
■ Particular design
The plastic-free tumbler has a simple design to make the most of its unique texture.
In order to straighten the silhouette of the side of the tumbler, we are particular about post-processing from the mold, and finally polish it to give it a matte texture.
■ Commitment to packaging
The packaging is made of "chip balls", which are 100% recycled paper made from recycled newspaper and magazine paper.
■ Warm drinks are also OK
While many products with high purity of plant-derived ingredients do not have a heat-resistant function, the heat-resistant temperature of the plastic-free tumbler is 120°C, so you can use it for warm drinks with confidence.
■ Materials that are in harmony with the earth
About 86% of plastic-free tumblers are made of corn-derived resin and paper, which are plant-derived ingredients.
Natural viscosity minerals (about 7%) and petroleum-derived additives (about 7%) are added to the main components to ensure heat resistance. *1
In addition, most of the material is decomposed into water and carbon dioxide by the action of microorganisms. *2
*1 Please be assured that the minimum additives used comply with the Food Sanitation Law stipulated by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare.
Many so-called eco-friendly products do not mention additives.
Please be careful.
*2 The time and degree required for decomposition vary greatly depending on the environment, so we do not guarantee 100%.
■ Recycle instead of throwing away
If PAPLUS® products are thrown in the trash, they will be incinerated. Since it is made almost entirely from plant-derived ingredients, it is carbon neutral (virtually does not increase CO2), but please cooperate in recovering it as a resource and remanufacturing it instead of incinerating it as garbage. Let's create a new cycle together.
Note: Recycling is only available for businesses in Japan.

■ Disclosure of the process of recovery and recycling from production
The plastic-free tumbler comes with a "traceability card". The card has a lot number and a QR code that you can check on the site to see when the product was manufactured, what type it is, and how many it has been collected or recycled.
