I want to solve the pile of plastic waste with paper and new materials.

After graduating from university, Fukasawa, the representative of Camino, joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During my tenure in developing countries, I was deeply affected by the piles of plastic waste on beaches and many other places, as well as the people and children who live there. When I saw such a scene, I vaguely thought, "Won't single-use plastics disappear from this world?"

After retiring from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he started a PR and marketing company to help companies expand overseas, and while consulting for various companies, he met a recycled pulp company and established Camino, a company that produces paper recycling.
While I was involved in paper recycling, I started the PAPLUS® project with the idea that paper could solve the mountain of plastic that I saw while working in developing countries, which I couldn't get out of my mind.

Garbage on the Accra coast, the capital of Ghana (as of 2000)

Ghana, Fukasawa with locals

What are we doing?
The main components are environmentally friendly synthetic resin PLA (polylactic acid) and paper.

In the beginning, when paper was considered as an alternative to plastic, its weakness was its strength. In the first place, paper is made from plants, so we hypothesized that it would be a strong material by mixing it with biodegradable plastics derived from the same plant, and when we made a prototype, we ended up with a material with a very attractive expression. This is where the full-scale production of PAPLUS® began.

PAPLUS® is a sustainable material made from PLA (polylactic acid), which is mainly composed of lactic acid obtained by fermenting paper and corn starch, so most of the material is decomposed into water and carbon dioxide by the action of microorganisms.
Note: The time and degree required for decomposition vary greatly depending on the environment, so we do not guarantee 100%.

Use materials with low environmental impact and continue to use them semi-permanently

Realization of a carbon-neutral and recycling-oriented society from a plastic-free perspective.

After its function, PAPLUS® is treated as "burnable waste", and CO2 emissions from production to disposal are reduced by about 80% compared to petroleum-derived plastics (according to our research).
However, we produce PAPLUS® as a product based on the premise of recovery. Rather than disposing of PAPLUS® at the end of its role, we would like to collect it, recycle it, and recycle it. You can also follow the lot number enclosed with the product and see the journey on the site.

Why don't you create a new cycle together with PAPLUS®?

PAPLUS Plastic® Free Tumbler

It is the first PAPLUS® product to be sold to individual customers. By making it from earth-friendly materials, it creates a unique texture of natural materials, like pottery and wood products. We value individuality such as color and shade so that you can use it with love.

Plastic-free cup "Paplus logo"

The package adopts a simple sleeve type for a simpler finish. The packaging material is a pitch ball made from 100% recycled newspaper and magazine waste paper, which is the same as the plastic-free tumbler.
The heat-resistant temperature is also 120°C, which is the same as the tumbler, so you can use it safely for any drink.

"Non-Package Series"
PAPLUS® Stacking Tumbler

A stacking tumbler that features the same minimalistic design as the PAPLUS® tumbler. It can be stacked, so you can use the space in the kitchen efficiently. The stable weight balance caused by thickening toward the bottom is also good!
The capacity is equivalent to the short size of a general café.

Who are supporting us?
At a time when the environmental crisis is being called out loudly, many people are paying attention to sustainable products and services. PAPLUS® has also attracted attention, such as being adopted as a theater-only original merchandise for the stage of an actor who is committed to social contribution activities.
Think about what kind of material the product you pick up is made of and what will happen in the end. We hope that those who have such an awareness will use it.
