■ Becoming a habit ■
Tannin-tanned leather hardened by a special method is used inside, and it is sandwiched between the outer leather.
Since it flexes with moderate hardness, you can enjoy it in a different way from a shoehorn made only of metal.
Brass fittings are used, and the more it is used with leather, the more it gives it an antique atmosphere peculiar to aging.
■ About leather material
It is an original leather that features a diamond-shaped pattern and is now called "phantom leather" (*) by reproducing it by a tanner (tanner) in Himeji.
In order for the texture to come out over time, tannins and oil are added. Since it contains a lot of oil, nail marks and light scratches (threads) due to use will blend in and become difficult to see if you rub it with your hands. In addition, the diamond-shaped pattern makes it difficult to stand out.
* Russian calf is a high-grade leather produced in Tsarist Russia in the 1700s. During the Russian Revolution in the early 1900s, the details of the tanning method were lost, and today it is rarely distributed, and it is a highly rare material. The leather used in this work reproduces the expression of the Russian calf.
