町田久美子
kumiko machida
Craftsman of the traditional craft "Tokyo Hand-Painted Yuzen".
In 1999, he studied under Ryuji Nagasawa of Tokyo Yuzen. After 10 years of training, he became independent and was certified as a traditional craftsman (general category) for the traditional craft "Tokyo Hand-Painted Yuzen" designated by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry in 2026.
Currently, based in our own workshop, we are developing the brand "Somemoyo".
Based on traditional techniques that have been passed down since the Edo period, we manage the entire process in-house, from design to thread placement and color insertion. The design, which pursues urban, sophisticated colors and "beauty that does not come out too much" that brings out the individuality of the wearer, has gained support from a highly sensitive customer base.
Currently, in addition to kimonos and obi, they also develop Japanese accessories and gift products in an easy-to-pick price range that combines traditional crafts and digital crafts. Based on the sales results cultivated at department store events and solo exhibitions, we flexibly respond to product proposals and development consultations tailored to the sales floor. We adapt the value of traditional crafts to the modern market and continuously contribute to the creation of a "moving sales floor".
