Who are supporting us?
Until now, "Koshu Inden" has been made using Kyon leather imported from China. On the other hand, Yamanashi Prefecture, like other prefectures, is becoming more serious in damage to crops by wild sika deer, and as a countermeasure, a certain number of them are captured, but most of their skins are discarded. One of the objectives of the "URUSHINASHIKA" project is to make effective use of the discarded hides.
In addition to the tanning technique developed by a tanning specialist in Hyogo Prefecture using a method that does not use any harmful substances, we use leather that is safe and environmentally friendly enough to eat, developed for "Inden" in collaboration with Yamanashi Prefecture, and suitable for the SDGs era. The basic color is "white", but it has been added to make it suitable for inden, such as applying a water-repellent treatment three times so that it does not get dirty.
Commitment to the product
The inden processing (lacquering) of "URUSHINASHIKA" products is done by professionals who are qualified as "Koshu Inden Traditional Craftsmen", and the sewing is done by bag making professionals who have been certified as Level 1 technical by the Japan Bag Handbag Association, and they are Made in Japan.
This time, we focused on small items such as long wallets and smartphone cases, but since sika deer leather is large unlike Kyon, we would like to think about expanding it to items that take advantage of its characteristics.
In addition, I would like to work on new product development through tie-ups with companies and creators.
