I want to make clothes that can be enjoyed for a long time as much as I need.
I used to work as a designer for a brand, but every time I see a pile of clothes in a nearby dump, I wonder if I can continue to produce so many clothes every season. I started to think about it. If it remains unsold, it will be sold on sale or at an outlet, and if it remains unsold, it will eventually be discarded. What are we making things for? Is what we used to take for granted really right? A lot of questions have arisen in my mind.
At that time, I came across Enshu textiles woven in Shizuoka Prefecture, where I am from. What shocked me was its high density and good texture. Although it has a crisp texture, the more you wear it, the more comfortable it feels on your skin. In addition, at the weaving site, I learned about the difficult process of preparing each thread such as passing through it and finally finishing it into a single piece of fabric after a lot of daunting work, and my awareness of manufacturing has changed.
We launched KEYCO with the desire to create clothes that can grow with the wearer while arranging, repairing, and dyeing them like kimonos, and clothes that can be enjoyed for a long time, rather than disposable products.
