At "Under Nature", we are particular about making products that make use of forest materials as they are. Various materials in the forest, such as birch bark, branches, roots, and mizunara logs, are carefully collected and used without waste. In particular, birch has a high moisture content and is difficult to dry, so we have repeatedly devised ways to maximize the characteristics of the material, such as splitting it on the back and drying it thoroughly to the core using a drying kiln of 60 degrees or higher.
In addition, forest care is one of the important tasks. By cutting bamboo, the seedlings of the trees grow naturally and preserve the diversity of the forest. "Forestry without planting," which does not rely on artificial afforestation and utilizes the regenerative power of forests, realizes sustainable management at low cost and minimizes the burden on the soil and ecosystem.
From the perspective of the SDGs, initiatives under nature are directly linked to "the responsibility of creating and using" and "protecting the richness of land". By carefully producing only what is necessary and responding to small needs without being swept away by mass production and consumption, we are building a new relationship between forests and people. In order to connect the blessings of the forest to the future, we are repeating trial and error every day.
