There is another necessary material for functional ceramic charcoal, which is made mainly from thinned cypress and cedar wood grown in the mountainous areas of Shizuoka Prefecture. It is a clay mineral with properties similar to diatomaceous earth.
By mixing this clay mineral with moisture and wood in a delicate balance, you can coat the wood with clay minerals. After that, it is completed by carbonizing at about 850°C using our own manufacturing equipment.
Functional ceramic charcoal has excellent moisture absorption and desorption properties derived from clay minerals, deodorizing properties derived from charcoal, and a function (patented) to sort and deodorize odors.
In the 25 years since its development, its use as a building material using its humidity control function has increased, and it is now also used in systems for air purification in theme parks and large buildings.
Due to the coating of ceramics, it is also used as a flame-retardant charcoal in the commercial field of charcoal grilling.
Kinokoto offers interior products with deodorizing and other functions, as well as clothing that supports warming by combining natural materials (silk, organic cotton, etc.) by taking advantage of the characteristics of ceramic charcoal.
The first "silk and charcoal leg warmer" developed for the purpose of warming the calves and feet was released 13 years ago. Since then, it has garnered support from many customers, mainly at stores, and has grown into a series of hot activities that represents kinokoto. Currently, we have a lineup of wrists, tummy, neck, room socks, spats, and thin leg warmers for spring and summer, depending on the part and season.
