Functional ceramic charcoal, made mainly from thinned wood of cypress and cedar grown in mountainous areas of Shizuoka Prefecture, requires another essential material. It is a clay mineral (clay) with properties similar to diatomaceous earth.
By blending this clay mineral with moisture and wood in a delicate balance, you can coat the wood with clay minerals. Then, using our proprietary manufacturing equipment, we carbonize at about 850°C to complete the product.
Functional ceramic charcoal combines excellent moisture absorption and release from clay minerals, deodorizing properties derived from charcoal, and also features a patented function to sort and remove odors.
Twenty-five years after its development, its use as a building material utilizing humidity control functions has increased, and it is now also used in systems aimed at air purification in theme parks and large buildings.
Thanks to ceramic coating, it is also used as flame-retardant charcoal in the commercial charcoal cooking sector.
At Kinokoto, we offer interior products with deodorizing functions, as well as warmth support garments that combine natural materials such as silk and organic cotton by utilizing the characteristics of ceramic charcoal.
The "Silk and Charcoal Leg Warmer," developed to warm calves and feet, was first released 13 years ago. Since then, it has gained strong support from many customers mainly in stores, growing into kinokoto's representative warming and health series. Currently, we offer a lineup tailored to different body parts and seasons, including wrists, stomach, neck, room socks, leg warmers, and lightweight spring/summer leg warmers.
