"The O Block" born from the feeling of "waste"
Originally, it was a town factory that specialized in metal stamping.
In our main business, we use large aluminum plates, but inevitably leftovers remain. Scraps from the manufacturing process are often discarded, but there is still plenty of value left in them.
The impetus for the launch of this brand began when a young employee proposed a work using scrap materials, which won the Encouragement Award at the 2011 TASK Monozukuri Awards.
Following this success, development for commercialization proceeded. In order to make the most of the characteristics of the material, we repeatedly reviewed the manufacturing process and tested its durability, and it took 6~7 years to solve the problem.
After that, we started a workshop before selling it suddenly, and we felt a good response there. At the same time, at the exhibition, we created and exhibited eye-catching dinosaur objects with The O-Brick, and made various sales kits.
For the 2022 Giant Insect Exhibition at Skytree, I was asked to create an object of a praying mantis and a dragonfly.
We raise awareness through the creation of such objects and the holding of workshops. In addition, we are expanding into practical products, and we are pursuing the possibility of products that combine practicality as well as the world of hobbies.
The goal of THE OPROCK is not just to be a toy, but to establish itself as a new category of products that combines learning and fun to spark creativity. We also aim to grow as a pillar of our sustainable business through contributions to local communities and the development of environmentally friendly products.
Rather than just selling products, we provide a "valuable experience." Through this experience, we hope to grow into a brand that enriches our daily lives and convey the joy of manufacturing.
