At Toyogetsudo, while preserving the traditional techniques of Kutani ware, we carefully create each work.
The painting, which makes use of the vibrant colors of red, yellow, green, purple, and navy blue, which is the essence of Kutani ware, is done by skilled craftsmen. In particular, the traditional technique called "flower filling" is to draw colorful flowers as if they are laid out and apply gold colors to express the elegant beauty. This technique requires a high level of skill among Kutani pottery, and Hogetsudo carefully inherits this traditional beauty.
In order to achieve the robustness and beautiful color development that are characteristic of Kutani ware, we continue to adhere to the laborious manufacturing method of firing at a high temperature of over 1300 degrees, then painting and firing again at around 800 degrees.
The fusion of practicality and traditional beauty in line with modern lifestyles is also a commitment to Hogetsudo. By applying traditional painting to forms that are easy to use in everyday life, such as mugs and pot teapots, they are popular among many people as works of art that can be used on a daily basis.
The craftsmanship and heart that goes into each piece, and the tradition of Kutani ware that has lasted for more than 370 years. Hogetsudo strives to improve its technology every day in order to pass it on to the next generation without losing its value. Utilizing the beauty of traditional crafts in the present and connecting them to the future - this is the origin of Toyogetsudo's manufacturing.
