It started with the encounter of several tea packs
The founder of our company was busy at the end of the Showa era, and when he was physically and mentally tired, he met Rooibos with a few packets of tea bags from a friend. We were impressed by the fragrant taste of the first drink and wanted people to know the charm of rooibos, so we founded it for the purpose of importing and selling rooibos tea. Rooibos is a herbal tea that can only be harvested in South Africa, meaning "red bush" tea RED BUSH TEA. It was a rare health tea that has been loved locally for a long time, exported as a state-owned business abroad (except for South Africa), and can only be purchased at a limited number of health food stores in Japan. Therefore, I wanted this wonderful tea to be known to many people.
I went to South Africa to learn more about Rooibos. South Africa was impressive with its more modern buildings and bright blue skies that I had imagined. I drove to the rooibos field at the foot of the Darberg Mountains. The soil is dry, acidic. The rooibos tree is about 1.5 meters tall, but the roots are 2~3 times larger than that, and the roots absorb moisture and minerals from the soil. It is precisely because of this harsh environment that rooibos tea is born.
After that, I went to Rooibos Corporation (now Rooibos Limited) to inspect the tea processing site and quality control process, and saw the wonders of rooibos firsthand, which convinced me that rooibos tea is good.
So I started my company and established SABA as an acronym for Soth Africa Business Association in honor of South Africa.
