At MOODE, we are manufacturing with upcycling as the center of our products with the aim of realizing a sustainable society.
Our worldview is to "make the most of the individuality of materials and deliver the beauty and warmth of nature to everyday life."
To this end, we actively use materials that would normally be discarded, such as wood waste generated at construction sites, leftover yarn from the apparel manufacturing process, glass from crushed glass bottles from recycled bottles, natural stone surplus from construction sites, and wood powder from processing wood products.
For example, in collaboration with Takenaka Corporation, we developed coasters and trays using concrete gallons and wood chips from construction sites. The concrete is crushed into small pieces from about 2 mm to 4 mm, mixed with resin, and molded. The wood chips are painted on the surface layer to give it a ceramic texture. No two products are the same, as they are hand-finished by craftsmen who take advantage of the texture and individuality of the materials as they are.
Also, pay attention to Okinawan ingredients. Items that make use of local resources and natural materials are also available, such as coasters made of coral sand and Ryukyu limestone collected off the coast of Tokashiki Island, and "natural stone coasters" made of colorful natural stones.
All products have a structure that does not accumulate water on the surface layer and pursue ease of use, while devising ways to bring out the beauty of the material to the fullest.
In the process of product manufacturing, a lot of time and effort is spent on material selection and processing. Since each piece of waste material is in a different state, it is essential to devise ways to maintain stable quality and fine-tune it only by hand. After these struggles, products that feel the unique warmth and breath of nature are born.
MOODE values the SDGs of "responsibility to make and use", and not only contributes to waste reduction and resource recycling, but also continues to make products that are close to the hearts of those who use them.
