As a Malaysian native, I founded Nanpu in Japan because I wanted to pass on the wisdom of "medicine and food are the same" that I inherited from my grandmother to many people.
I still vividly remember the scenes I saw in my grandmother's kitchen as a child.
My grandmother did not use any chemical seasonings or refined sugar, but exquisitely combined herbs and spices - the blessings of nature - to create dishes tailored to the physical condition of the family.
When you catch a cold, when you are tired, when the seasons change... There was a "dining table idea" tailored to each one.
Even after I moved to Japan, the teachings continued to live in me. However, in today's busy society, I realized that eating has become just an act of "taking nutrition", and the aspect of "preparing the body" that should be had is being lost.
"Eating is living, and I want you to cherish every moment."
With this thought in mind, I obtained qualifications one after another to learn the wisdom of Eastern and Western foods, such as medicinal cuisine, Chinese medicine, superfoods, herbs, and spices.
In 2018, we opened "Nanfeng", a Malaysian Chinese medicinal home cooking specialty store, in Hakusan City, Ishikawa Prefecture.
The name South Wind carries the desire to be a support for people's health and happiness, just like a warm and gentle wind.
Not only does it serve delicious food, but it also balances the mind and body through food, so that each person cares about their natural health – that's our mission.
