From the forest, as it is, to you.
100% Natural Ingredients Plant Energy Toner
[Moisturize your skin with plant energy for healthy skin]
◯ Using only precious [shina flowers] that bloom for only 8 days as raw materials
The flowering period of [Shina Flower], which extracts plant extracts, is only about 8 days out of the year, so it is very rare. After collection, it is appropriately treated and dried promptly, and carefully stored in a unique way so that the aroma components do not volatilize.
◯ Collected hand-picked flowers from Yamagata Prefecture [Japanese linden]
Shina flowers in Tsuruoka City, Yamagata Prefecture bloom during the rainy season, late June ~ early July. It is very difficult to collect flowers, and not all trees will bloom, and some will bloom and some will not. In addition, flowers do not always bloom every year, so you cannot collect the flowers unless you manage and understand the forest. With the cooperation of local residents, UMU carefully picks each shina flower by hand.
◯ 100% cosmetics with natural ingredients made by a completely additive-free manufacturing method that does not use petroleum synthetic ingredients
UMU Shina Flower Water (Hanasui) consists only of distilled water extracted from Shina flowers by the vacuum steam distillation method. Due to the Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices Act, all ingredient labels are described as "water, linden extract", but in reality, it is a very luxurious specification of 100% distilled water used without diluting distilled water with water. By doing so, we do not use any synthetic surfactants, synthetic preservatives, synthetic solvents, or synthetic fragrances of petroleum synthetic ingredients, and we have achieved 100% natural ingredients that circulate in nature and do not upset the balance. Another feature of this method is that the boiling point of the water is lowered, and the aroma is rarely impaired because the flowers are not burned. Shinana water delivers the scent of the forest as it is.
*June 2022 Acquired the Japan Organic Cosmetics Association (JOCA) recommended mark
The "JOCA Recommended Products Mark" is a mark that guarantees that cosmetics are made with 100% natural ingredients. The Japan Organic Cosmetics Association has come into effect based on strict screening.
◯ Supported by such people
It is supported by women in their 30s and older who want to face their own skin and clean it from the inside.
In addition, only cosmetics composed of 100% natural ingredients can be acquired, and since it has acquired the recommended mark of the Japan Organic Cosmetics Association (JOCA), which is said to be the strictest in the world, it tends to be preferred by those who have some knowledge of organic and natural skin care cosmetics. Therefore, it is expected to increase its presence in the maturing organic cosmetics market.
It is a product that often becomes a repeat customer once it is used.
[Ethical cosmetics that anyone can participate in cultural inheritance]
◯ Ancient cloth, the present of shina weaving
Shinana cosmetics have a great relationship with [shinaori], which is considered to be one of the oldest textiles in Japan. Shina-ori is a rare textile culture in modern times, in which bark is peeled from the shina tree and the inner bark is used as a raw material to spin yarn, but in the days when cotton was not widespread, it was used as bags and fishing nets and was indispensable for daily life. However, in the post-war period, the number of people involved in Shina rapidly decreased as lifestyles changed from mountains to cities. As a result, both the producers and the users continue to age, and we are entering a phase where it is difficult to pass on culture.
◯ Knowing a fairytale-like world through cosmetics
UMU was started to play a role in the inheritance of Shina culture. In today's world of declining birthrates and aging populations, it is important to make the existence of culture known to many people. [Shinanohana Cosmetics] can deliver the charm and challenges of [Shinaori] as a message to people who could not reach it before.
The cloth wrapped around the bottle of Shina Flower Water is [Shina Ori] made from reused hagire. I would be happy if you could feel the energy of culture by touching the real thing.
◯ 1.1% of sales will be invested in the cultural inheritance business
From July 2023, we have decided to use 1.1% of the sales of [Shinanohana Cosmetics] as a source of funds for the Shinana culture inheritance business. In addition to planting and preserving forests, we hold workshops on making shina flower soap at nursery schools and elementary schools to foster successors, and invite students to experience peeling the bark of shina trees. We have built an ethical system that allows anyone to participate in the cultural inheritance project by purchasing [Shinanohana Cosmetics].
◯ Realization of local fair trade
Fair trade tends to be associated with overseas, but the same thing is happening locally in Japan, which is one of the factors that hinders cultural inheritance. By not trading at the right price in the production area, young successors do not appear. UMU will not only purchase [Shina Hana] and [Shina Ori no Hagire] at an appropriate price, but will also continue to take on the challenge of increasing the value of [Shinaori].
