■About African elephants
African elephants are the largest elephants. It can be easily distinguished by very large ears (which help to release excess heat from the body) and front legs, which are noticeably longer than the hind legs.
African elephants are found in African steppes and scrublands. They are widespread in eastern and southern Africa, but are especially found in Botswana, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Namibia, Mozambique and South Africa.
In their habitat, they are often seen eating grass, but they also eat a wide variety of plants and fruits. Food choices vary depending on the season, and they eat more grass during the rainy season than during the dry season.
