The dial was coated with a powder (mineral paint) made from crushed minerals called "azurromalachite".
It is a stone in a state where green "malachite" and blue "azurite" are mixed, and the green and blue particles of mineral pigments can be clearly seen with the naked eye. It is a traditional paint that has been used in paintings and sculptures in Japan since the Asuka period. Enjoy the deep and complex colors.
The main body is made by a method called "potter's wheel pulling" in Kaga Yamanaka, Ishikawa Prefecture, which has a history of more than 400 years as a lacquerware production area, by applying a halberd (canna) to a rotating tree. The material is zelkova, the wood grain is beautiful, and the texture is smooth and moist.
The dial is made of Japanese paper made by Mayumi Ishikawa, who makes Japanese paper in Futamata Town, Kanazawa City.
On top of that, "mineral pigments" made by crushing natural stones are applied in layers. The index is gold leaf from Kanazawa.
