Untie the strings, tear off a small amount and place it on a bakeware, light the fire and wait until the fire goes out naturally. Please note that if you blow it with your mouth to extinguish it, it will scatter.
When only smoke rises, you can purify it by leaving it on a bakeware and letting the smoke drift in the place you want to purify, or slowly submerging the object in the smoke.
