The large plate of 24 cm has a moderate depth and can be used for juicy dishes.
Root
The Root series was the first series made by masamura craft.
The impetus for the design was a large bowl of dye painted on the back with the words "Masamura Craft" displayed in the factory of Masamura Pottery.
Tableware designers Hiroyuki Iwaki of Cashico and Hiroyuki Okami of Potperry were attracted to the excellence of the workmanship and decided to work with Masamura Ceramics to develop the product.
In the first place, the large bowl was manufactured in the mid-Showa period and was an arrangement of the Nemoto ware that was baked from the Edo period to the early Taisho period.
The two visited the town of Nemoto, which collects materials and tableware of Nemotoyaki that have been lost once. Impressed by the designs and forms used at the time, and getting hints, we will search for easy-to-use items that fit into modern lifestyles.
In order to incorporate the dyeing method of the old Nemoto-yaki, the original drawings were made one by one so that the touch of the brush would remain on the plate used for the pattern, and in this way, the tableware with a modern arrangement based on the historic Nemoto-yaki was completed.
It was named the "Root Series" because of the design with the motif of "roots" unique to Nemoto ware and the two meanings of "origin".
