■About American crocodiles
American alligators are endangered in almost all of Southern, Northern, and Central America. There are still a small number of individuals in southern Florida, but most are found in southern Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean, and northern South America. Their preferred habitats are freshwater or brackish bodies of water, such as estuaries, coastal lagoons and mangrove swamps.
The American crocodile is one of the largest crocodiles in the world. Their diet consists mainly of small mammals, birds, fish, crabs, insects, snails, frogs, and sometimes animal carcasses.
