MUD Jeans creates new jeans from old jeans based on the idea that discarded things are a source for creating new ones. The best way to reduce our environmental impact is to reduce our consumption of resources. All MUD Jeans products are made from a blend of GOTS-certified organic cotton and 23 to 40% recycled denim.
As a model to establish a business while reducing the environmental impact, we developed and established a jeans leasing service. We also offer a mechanism to return purchased jeans for recycling after use. If it is in good condition, we will sell it as part of a vintage collection. The jeans that come back after their role are sent for recycling.
Recycling is OK if the jeans are made of cotton or more, even if they are from brands other than MUD Jeans. In this way, we have created a system that makes it easy to engage in recycling. We use state-of-the-art machinery to remove the buttons, zippers, and labels of the collected jeans and recycle all the leftovers. The jeans are finely cut to create fibers and mixed with GOTS-certified organic cotton. This is spun into yarn, and the yarn is dyed in indigo color to make a fabric that is reborn as a new pair of jeans.
The use of recycled and organic cotton, as well as a unique water purification system and washing technology, reduce water use by 93% compared to industry standards. In addition, through recycling and energy-saving production, CO2 emissions have been reduced by 74%.

In order to be animal-based and to use as few non-recyclable and disposable materials as possible, the MUD Jeans label is printed directly on denim rather than the usual leather patches. MUD Jeans uses only GOTS certified organic cotton. The use of organic cotton is one of the reasons why MUD Jeans has been able to reduce the amount of water used during production.
Conventional cotton uses a large amount of toxic pesticides for cultivation. It has been pointed out that these chemicals not only harm people working on farms and wild animals, but also adversely affect neighboring areas due to aerial spraying. In addition, they are often grown in the same soil, which depletes the quality and nutrients of the soil, resulting in the use of large amounts of water. By using GOTS certified organic cotton, we are not only guaranteed that more than 70% of the cotton we buy is organic, but we are also confident that very strict environmental, chemical and social rules are followed, and that we are guaranteed to trade fairly with farmers.

We use "Foam Dyeing" to reduce water consumption by 99%, chemicals by 86%, and energy by 65%. This technique, which involves applying foam to the yarn and dyeing it, is an astonishing and innovative new dyeing technology in the denim industry.
