Approximately 200 to 250-year-old cypress leaves are selected as building materials from the cypress leaf forest, which has grown splendidly over a long period of time. In the process of processing into its building material, a large amount of sawdust containing the valuable component "hinokitiol" is discharged. At Hinoha Sanhyaku, this sawdust is an important resource and is used as a raw material for our products.
We use a method called "steam distillation" to collect cypress leaf essential oils. When the cypress leaves, which are the raw material, are placed in a distillation kettle and steam is sent into the distillation kettle, the essential oil components in the cypress leaves are released and vaporized, and rise with the water vapor. Water vapor is converted from gas to liquid by making a leap in a cooling device. Water and essential oils do not mix easily, and due to the difference in specific gravity, they are divided into two layers so that the essential oil floats at the top. By collecting only the essential oil components from here, fresh cypress leaf essential oil (essential oil) is completed.
