First of all, we are working to spread the charm of roof tiles and get people interested.
What are Ibushi silver tiles?
Without using glaze or paint, a silver carbon film is created by soaking it in a kiln. It is an earth-friendly tile made with natural soil and ancient manufacturing methods. In addition, carbon films have the characteristic of reflecting light differently depending on the viewing angle, and it is possible to make the most of them to give them a three-dimensional effect, or to have the same moisture absorption and desorption function as diatomaceous earth by a special firing method.
Commitment to "cultural inheritance"
Our company is located in a district called Kikuma Town in Imabari City, Ehime Prefecture. The tiles made in this area are called "Kikuma tiles" and are a traditional craft that has continued for about 750 years. Around the Meiji era, it reached its peak, delivering tiles for the Oyama Shrine and the Imperial Palace, but in recent years it has declined, and the number of manufacturers has decreased significantly.
In the midst of such a trend, we applied the tile-making technology that had been passed down for generations to commercialize crafts such as tableware, single flower inserts, and figurines. In addition, workshops are held to provide an environment where people can experience local culture.
