"Sisam" means "good neighbor" in the Ainu language. It expresses the desire to live in connection with people who live on the same earth as "good neighbors".

We aim to solve social issues such as poverty, child labor, and environmental problems by spreading fair trade products that aim to be "good for the five directions" of makers, sellers, buyers, society, and the global environment.

Official Assurance Member of the World Federation of Fair Trade (WFTO). It operates 9 directly managed stores, an online store, and a wholesale business. In 2022, he won the Grand Prize of the "Color Me Shop Award 2022".

Founder and representative director of Sisam Kobo Co., Ltd. When he was a university student, he was deeply shocked by the apartheid problem in South Africa, and became interested in human rights and poverty issues in developing countries. After working as a backpacker and as a graduate school researcher, he worked as a general merchandise buyer for about four years before founding the fair trade shop "Sisam Kobo" in Kyoto in 1999. 「What you buy is what you vote. Shopping is about what kind of society you vote for." Under the slogan, the company sells wholesale to retail stores nationwide, operates directly managed fair trade shops and online stores, and conducts a novelty business.

We have partnered with 12 organizations in five Asian countries to develop fair trade products that can preserve the traditional culture of local producers and convey their splendor to the world.

In addition, we support not only employment, but also crowdfunding to procure equipment necessary for work, subsidize basic education for children of producers, and provide support for living with peace of mind according to the characteristics of the country or region through local NGOs.
