Product development that proposes a new habit "Lid Hygiene" to protect the eyes of beloved pets
Your pet's face is close to the ground, and it is easy for dust and debris to enter. In addition, the number of eye diseases in pets is twice as high as that of dental and oral diseases (according to a survey by pet insurance companies). Gently cleaning the area around the eyes is an essential habit for a pet's comfortable life.
However, the lack of safe and easy-to-use lid hygiene shampoos for pets on the market also seems to be the reason why cleaning the area around the pet's eyes does not become a habit.
Therefore, we took safety and ease of use into consideration when developing the product.
The Mybo shampoo that we were previously involved in developing has been confirmed to be safe for human use, but we asked specialized veterinarians for advice to verify what would happen if we used it on pets.
First of all, I talked to Dr. Shibauchi of Akasaka Animal Hospital in Tokyo several times, and then met Dr. Tsujita of the Animal Eye Clinic in Toyonaka City, Osaka Prefecture, and Dr. Murayama of the Department of Dog and Cat Dermatology in Edogawa Ward, who gave me advice. Dr. Tsujita and Dr. Murayama supervised the product, and it uses ingredients that are difficult to stain even if they get in the eyes, and of course are less irritating to the skin, and contain moisturizing ingredients that reduce the feeling of tightness after washing.
The product was used on a trial basis for one year at Akasaka Animal Hospital and an animal ophthalmology clinic in Osaka, and as a result, it was endorsed as trouble-free and very easy to use, leading to this release.
While similar products have mainly been liquid types, this product is a foam type, so it can be used without hassle and can be washed quickly. I think it will be an opportunity for owners to make lid hygiene a habit.
Until now, there have been very few products that cleanse the meibomian glands for animals, but we hope that our pet lid hygiene will help prevent eye diseases in our beloved pets.
