Founder of KERBHOLZ. KERBHOLZ was born when Matthias and Moritz returned from a trip to South America in 2011 and consulted with friends such as Adrien, who studied business psychology at university, about the idea of a product using wood that they were fascinated by and inspired during the trip. After long nights of discussion, a lot of red wine, and a lot of passion, the first wooden sunglasses and wooden clock were finally made.
Currently, we also work with other sustainable materials such as slate to create sustainable products. Emphasizing not only the natural environment but also the working environment, we introduced a four-day work week in 2021. It is one of Cologne's most successful startups and has won prestigious design awards, including being nominated for the North Rhine-Westphalia Founders' Prize in 2016.
