Hinoki, a tree endemic to Japan.
We want to connect this beautiful and people-friendly tree to the future.
Hinokinohi started with such a thought.
Utilizing thinned wood and offcuts of domestic cypress,
It will be reborn as an attractive item.
It all started with a hanger.
We originally made hangers and fixtures.
A manufacturer that makes products in apparel shops, etc.
We have been manufacturing for more than 60 years.
I had never used cypress, which is a domestic wood.
One day, an overseas designer
There was a request to make "eco-friendly" hangers "out of Japan wood".
In order to respond to that request, we arrived at
It was a cypress, a tree endemic to Japan.
To everyone who actually goes into the satoyama and is involved in the work of making the most of the forest
I learned a lot.
In fact, about 70% of Japan's land area is covered by forests
It is a forest powerhouse.
Currently, the demand for domestic lumber is low, and maintenance cannot keep up
There are neglected forests in various places.
There are few uses for thinned wood, and it is either thrown away or used as fuel.
There are few heirs who will be responsible for the future of forestry.
I also learned a lot about the charm of cypress.
A soothing scent, like forest bathing.
Beautiful white wood skin.
Lightness when held.
"I can't believe there are such wonderful trees in Japan.
I want more people to know about it."
"And I want to make sure that this beautiful tree is properly connected to the future."
With that in mind, we want to make it easier to incorporate cypress into our daily lives.
We have launched a brand of miscellaneous goods.
That's how Hinokinohi came to be.
